Sat Sep 17, 2011 Today, in the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, band members Fiona Somers and John Danaher were married! Our Chairman, The Rev. Canon Anne Mallonee, was the minister, and ringing on handbells served as processional and recessional. Then a NAGCR band rang a peal of Grandsire Cinques in the tower, in the newlyweds' honor.
Sun Sep 11, 2011 The band observed 9/11 by ringing at 8:46 a.m. and later by ringing a peal of half-muffled Stedman Cinques. This was Roger's 800th peal. For an hour, the sound control was fully open, causing the AP to mention the peal in its article about the new 9/11 memorial, and to quote members of the public as saying that bells were "spectacular" and "signif[ied] unity."
